The terminals do the work at the gate. Everything after that is automatic.
A fingerprint at the gate terminal. Works offline — if the network drops, the terminal buffers every scan and replays it the moment it reconnects. Nothing is lost.
The scan is resolved to a student, checked against the day's register, and recorded as an arrival or departure — with the exact time it happened, not the time someone wrote it down.
An SMS goes out to the registered guardian within seconds, in English or Kiswahili. Parents know their child arrived safely before the first lesson starts.
